WHEN WILL I START TO FEEL BETTER?
There is no set timetable for how long it will take until you feel better, I wish there was. Feeling better may come from a variety of sources that depends on you. That means, making changes in your thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and choices; changes like this may take time to achieve.
HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO BE IN THERAPY?
Many problems can be dealt with in a brief period of time, but this is not always the case. There is no magic number or formula to determine how long it may take. You and I will have a conversation at the time of your intake assessment to determine the length of therapy you can expect.
HOW OFTEN WILL I MEET WITH MY THERAPIST?
The frequency of therapy is mutually agreed upon by you during your intake; I usually meet with my clients weekly.
If for some reason you are unable to make it to your scheduled session, please call In Community Counseling in advance, preferably 24-hours ahead.
IS WHAT I SAY IN COUNSELING KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
In Community Counseling LLC staff members follow the professional, legal and ethical guidelines of the American Psychological Association and the state of Florida. This means that information about your counseling sessions is not shared with anyone without your expressed written permission. There are some exceptions to confidentiality, however. If there is the possibility of harm to the client or another person, or in cases of child or elder abuse, In Community Counseling LLC staff are mandated to report certain information to the appropriate authorities.
WHAT ABOUT COUPLES COUNSELING?
Couples counseling is a wonderful opportunity to work with your partner on issues that may be impacting your relationship. We will focus on communication skills, parenting skills, solution focused, conflict resolution, parent-child interactional or making decisions about your future together. Your therapist will serve as a mediator and guide during these discussions and will help you work together to focus on and achieve specific goals for your relationship.
DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN?
Yes, I am trained with 15 years’ experience working with children over 6 years old. My specialties are at-risk, pre-adolescent, and adolescents.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Yes, we’re an in-network provider with most insurance companies. Please call for more information.
ARE THERE ANY BENEFITS TO NOT USING INSURANCE?
You might elect to not use insurance for privacy reasons; this is up to you. Throughout treatment, your insurance company generally needs a mental health diagnosis to determine “medical necessity.”
DO YOU OFFER IN-PERSON THERAPY?
Yes, however, due to CDC guidelines and the Florida health department, we are following all safety precautions due to COVID-19.
